CJP Announces Another Protest in Delhi on October 11

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced plans to march towards Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Sunday, October 11, 2026, following police action during its demonstration a day earlier. CJP leader Ajinkya Shinde announced that the movement would continue until Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resigned. The announcement came after several party leaders and demonstrators were reportedly detained during Saturday’s protest.

The organisation’s renewed protest call followed the detention of CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and party members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka at Delhi airport. In a prerecorded video, Dipke named Shinde to lead the movement while the senior leaders remained in detention. Shinde urged supporters to continue towards Jantar Mantar and said they should stage demonstrations wherever police stopped them.

The protest centres on opposition concerns about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. CJP and other critics have questioned the voter-list revision process and demanded accountability from the Election Commission. Election authorities maintain that electoral-roll revision is part of the voter-verification process; allegations of deliberate wrongdoing remain disputed.

Delhi Police had denied permission for the October 10 gathering, citing procedural and security concerns, and deployed extensive security measures across parts of the capital. As CJP announced another march for October 11, it remained unclear whether authorities would permit the gathering at Jantar Mantar. The planned protest could bring renewed attention to the dispute over electoral-roll revisions and the right to demonstrate in the capital.
