CJP Members Carrying Tiranga Enter Jantar Mantar, Detained by Delhi Police

Members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) entered the Jantar Mantar protest site in New Delhi early on October 13, 2026, carrying the Indian national flag, or Tiranga. Delhi Police detained the protesters shortly after they crossed a gate to enter the restricted area.
According to reports and footage shared by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, party members, including Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, climbed over an iron gate and police barricades to reach the site. The group raised slogans during the demonstration before police took them into custody.
Dipke described the participants as “cockroaches with the Tiranga” in a social media post about the incident. He also criticised the restrictions on demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, arguing that resistance could not be stopped simply by changing the location’s official status.
The protest formed part of CJP’s campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party has raised allegations of irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. These allegations remain contested and have not been independently established by the incident itself.
The detentions have drawn attention to the dispute over access to Jantar Mantar, a prominent protest location in the national capital. Authorities have reportedly designated alternative locations for demonstrations, while CJP members have challenged the restrictions and continued their campaign.
