Delhi Police Use Body Cameras Ahead of CJP Protest

Delhi Police have deployed personnel equipped with body-worn cameras as part of security arrangements for the planned Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10, 2026. The measure forms part of a wider security plan introduced ahead of the demonstration in the national capital.
The body-worn cameras are designed to record police interactions with protesters and document incidents during security operations. The footage could help authorities review events and investigate complaints about police conduct, including allegations of inappropriate behaviour during crowd-control operations.
Alongside the cameras, Delhi Police have strengthened security arrangements by deploying additional personnel and using surveillance equipment, including drones. The measures are intended to monitor crowd movement, maintain public order and respond to potential security concerns during the demonstration.
The protest comes amid opposition to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and demands from demonstrators for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign. Authorities have made preparations to manage the expected gathering and regulate access to sensitive locations around central Delhi.
The deployment of body-worn cameras highlights the role of video documentation in policing large public demonstrations. However, the use of cameras alone does not establish whether any misconduct has occurred. Any complaints or incidents would need to be assessed using available footage and other evidence.
