Indian Railways Cancels Several Trains to New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin Amid CJP Protest

Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi Railway Station and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station between 4 AM and 2 PM on Saturday, October 10, 2026. According to reports published on October 9, the order applies to trains departing their originating stations after 2 PM on Friday and scheduled to reach either station during the affected period.
The cancellations have been announced because of anticipated severe road traffic congestion around the two major railway stations. Railway officials are concerned that arriving passengers could face difficulties finding taxis and other transport to reach their final destinations.
Several major services have been reported among the affected trains, including the Howrah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express and the Sealdah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express. Passengers travelling on long-distance routes are advised to check their train numbers and cancellation status before leaving home.
The decision comes ahead of a planned protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
However, railway reports cite anticipated traffic congestion as the reason for the cancellations, and officials have not officially confirmed that the protest directly caused the decision.
The order does not mean that every train operating across Delhi has been cancelled. Reports indicate that services arriving at other stations, including Anand Vihar, Old Delhi, and Delhi Cantt, were not covered by the same cancellation order at the time of publication. Passengers should check the latest updates through the National Train Enquiry System or call railway helpline 139 before travelling.
