Meerut Blue Drum Case: Muskan and Sahil Get Death Penalty

A court in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, sentenced Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla to death on October 14, 2026, in the widely reported Blue Drum Murder Case. The two were convicted of murdering Muskan’s husband, Saurabh Rajput, a former Merchant Navy officer, and destroying evidence. The sentencing follows their conviction on September 30.

The case dates back to March 2025, when Saurabh Rajput was murdered in Meerut. Investigators found that his dismembered remains had been concealed inside a blue plastic drum filled with cement and sand. The discovery brought the case national attention and led to an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to the prosecution’s case, Muskan and Sahil conspired to kill Rajput before concealing his remains. The court examined evidence presented during the trial, including testimony from 22 prosecution witnesses. The proceedings involved 126 hearings before the court reached its verdict.

During the sentencing proceedings, the prosecution sought the death penalty, arguing that the crime fell within the category of the “rarest of rare” cases. The court ultimately awarded capital punishment to both convicts. The verdict marks a significant development in a case that attracted widespread public and media attention because of the nature of the crime.

The death sentences are subject to the applicable legal process, including confirmation by a higher court and any appeals available to the convicts. The sentencing concludes a major stage of the trial, but further legal proceedings may follow. The case continues to draw attention to the judicial process in serious criminal cases and the consequences established by the court’s findings.
