Yogi Adityanath Transfers ₹493 Crore to Over 9 Lakh Farmers

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has transferred ₹493 crore in financial assistance to more than 9 lakh farmers affected by crop damage. The funds were distributed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring that the assistance reached eligible beneficiaries directly in their bank accounts.

The transfer took place during an event at the Baba Gambhir Nath Auditorium and Cultural Centre in Gorakhpur on October 12, 2026. According to reports, approximately 9.18 lakh farmers received the agricultural input subsidy to help them cope with losses caused by adverse weather conditions.

The financial assistance is intended for farmers whose crops were damaged by floods, excessive rainfall and other natural disasters. Crop losses can create difficulties for agricultural households by reducing their income and increasing the cost of preparing for the next growing season.

Through the DBT system, the government transfers financial assistance directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts, reducing the need for intermediaries. The latest payment is part of the state’s efforts to provide relief to farmers facing agricultural losses due to weather-related events.

The assistance is expected to help affected farmers manage some of their immediate agricultural expenses and recover from crop damage. However, the amount received by individual farmers may vary depending on eligibility and the applicable relief provisions.

The announcement highlights the financial challenges faced by farmers after adverse weather conditions damage standing crops. The ₹493 crore transfer provides targeted support to eligible farmers, although the extent to which it covers individual losses will depend on the severity of the damage and each farmer’s circumstances.
